NextPlay (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the NextPlay platform, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data. By using NextPlay, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

We collect the following types of information:

• Display Nickname — the name you choose when joining a session. This is visible to other players on leaderboards.
• Email Address (Optional) — you may voluntarily submit your email address via an in-session prompt (e.g. to be contacted about prizes or event results). This field is always optional; the platform is fully functional without it.
• Session Participation Data — including session codes, answer submissions, points earned, and streaks.
• Device & Usage Data — browser type, IP address, pages visited, and interaction timestamps collected automatically for platform performance and security.
• Local Storage — we store session state locally on your device (nickname, join code, score) to enable session continuity on page refresh.

We use the collected information to:

• Operate, maintain, and improve the NextPlay platform
• Display real-time leaderboards and session scores
• Restore your session state on reconnect or page refresh
• Contact you regarding prizes or event outcomes, if you have voluntarily provided your email address
• Analyze usage patterns to improve performance and user experience
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorized access
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

• Event Organizers — session data (nicknames, scores) is visible to the administrator running your event.
• Service Providers — trusted third parties that assist in operating the Platform under strict confidentiality obligations.
• Legal Requirements — when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of NextPlay and its users.

Session participation data (answers, scores, streaks) is retained for the duration of the event and a reasonable period thereafter for analytics and dispute resolution. Display nicknames and session data may be anonymized or deleted upon request. Email addresses submitted voluntarily are retained only as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which they were provided (e.g. prize notification) and are deleted once that purpose is complete or upon request. Local storage data persists on your device until you clear your browser data or it is removed automatically by the Platform.

NextPlay uses browser local storage (not cookies) to persist your game session across page refreshes. This data includes your nickname, session join code, and current score. No tracking cookies or advertising cookies are used.

You can clear this data at any time through your browser's developer tools or settings under “Clear Site Data” or “Local Storage.” Clearing this data will log you out of any active session.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure WebSocket connections for real-time features, and access controls on our backend systems. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The Platform is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately so we can remove it.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Data portability where applicable

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Platform following any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
